FE Analysis of FGM Plates on Arbitrarily Orthotropic Pasternak Foundations for Membrane Effects

In this study, the finite element analysis of sigmoid functionally graded material (S-FGM) plates resting on orthotropic Pasternak elastic foundations with different angles is presented. For modelling, SAP2000 software package used in which required adjustments are made to obtain expected behaviour plate-foundation system. The plate modelled both using solid elements and layered shell by defining a number layers thickness direction having properties equivalent S-FGM plate. interaction between foundation treated equalizing vertical displacements nodal points. plane strain some properties. membrane effects simply supported considered assigning edge boundaries system as pinned supports these excluded converting all boundary nodes into roller except one corner due stability requirement. A verification examples performed demonstrate convenience robustness proposed model. This work can be easily extended static dynamic analyses FGM various geometries arbitrarily for further studies.
